Beyoncé Secretly Drops New Album on iTunes

NEWS/ Beyoncé Surprises Fans
by Secretly Dropping a New
Album on iTunes
by Bruna Nessif
Just like that, huh Beyoncé?!
While many artists usually spend months promoting
their upcoming releases in hopes that album sales
skyrocket, Queen B decided to go against the grain
and just drop her fifth studio album exclusively on
iTunes without anyone having the slightest idea that
it was coming.
The self-titled album features a whopping 31 tracks,
14 of which are new songs, including collaborations
with big name artists like hubby Jay Z, gal-pals
Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, Drake,
Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, Justin
Timberlake and her baby girl Blue Ivy—just to
name a few.
LOOK: Bey’s “Grown Woman” music video
leaked
As for the other 17 tracks…In an effort to make this
event an even more OMG-worthy moment, Bey
decided to also release 17 videos. Boom.
The surprise release is described as an “unguarded
artistic statement,” and labeled as “a visual album”
that is “exclusively available on iTunes…The
complementary videos unfold amid an international
backdrop of New York, Paris, Sydney and Rio de
Janeiro.”
Bey posted a video on Instagram with snippets of
what we can assume are pieces of the videos, and
also released a video on Facebook.
“I see music as more than just what I hear,” she says
in the clip. “When I’m connected to something, I
immediately see a visual or a series of images that
are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from
my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my
fantasies and they’re all connected to the music. And
I think that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to do a
visual album.”
Now would be the perfect time to bow down.

Nigeria as far back as 1975 with his AIM architectural

biggest outfits in Nigeria reaching millions in four
different cities.
Audu Maikori
It’s been rocky times at Chocolate City in the last
seven months but Maikori, a lawyer and entrepreneur

remains one of the biggest music labels in Africa.
Don’t be surprised if they announce an IPO soon.

director in the music industry so much that his name
has become synonymous with top quality musical
videos.
D’banj
In the last 12 months, the self-styled entertainer has
brushed off any kind of doubt about whether he can
progress career-wise after his split with former
Mo’Hits partner Don Jazzy.
Whether it’s performing at the finale of African Cup
of Nations, collaborating with US artistes, headlining
Hennessy Artistry or becoming the face of the Bank
of Industry, D’banj has shown constant sheer
determination and dominance.
And there’s an indefinitely long list of young cats
praying day and night to have a quarter of his
blessings.
DJ Jimmy Jatt
He is rated as one of the biggest and most iconic
deejays in Africa. An innovator, teacher, speaker and
performer, Jimmy Jatt has helped nurture the careers
and influenced many deejays in Nigeria. There’s
hardly any hip hop artiste in Nigeria that doesn’t
pledge allegiance to the legendary but unbelievably
humble deejay.
Don Jazzy
From music production, Don Jazzy remains one of the
most relevant entertainment personalities in Africa
(a formula his colleagues have not been able to crack
yet) with every artiste out there asking for a beat or
two from him. Little wonder he keeps bagging
multimillion Naira endorsement deals.
An ambassador for Loya Milk and MTN, IDJA is the
producer every producer wants to be like, the pop
star who has no single to his name; the enigmatic
music maker that’s giving an entirely new definition
to impresario.
Edi Lawani
Sometimes referred to as the Godfather, Lawani has
built a name in the corporate and entertainment
scene working as technical consultant, events
manager and adviser to organisations and talent. His

applause from stakeholders who understand what he
brings to the table. The NBC is the regulatory body
for broadcast organisations in Nigeria.
Femi Ayeni
Ayeni, founder of Ultima, the company which owns
two very big franchises in Nigeria might not have a
popular name but his shows Project Fame West
Africa and Who Wants to be a Millionaire do. Though
quiet and publicly shy, Ayeni has handed many
successful entertainers their careers – that list will
include Iyanya, Chidinma and Frank Edoho who rose
to national fame on WWTBAM.
Femi Kuti
The son of the late great Afrobeat legend has clearly
carved a niche for himself, warming up nicely into
contemporary music (working with Wizkid, LNC,
Jesse Jagz, Durella) and modern TV (Kuti is a judge
on Nigerian Idol). These have however not shut him
up from voicing out his opinion against bad
governance.
Funke Akindele
The Nollywood actress has bagged the highest
number of endorsement deals and produced more
bestselling movies than anyone in her category. Her
hilarious character, Jenifa has now become one of the
most popular characters in Nollywood. And despite
going through a well-publicized separation,
Akindele’s image remains intact, her following
unaffected; her endorsements intact.
Genevieve Nnaji
Hardly can you mention top actresses in Africa
without placing her in the top 2. US talk show host,
Oprah Winfrey described her as the Julia Roberts of
Africa, while Elle Magazine recently profiled her as
one of the 7 international acts soon to cross over to
international success. Nnaji’s profiling on the
international scene has been a big boost to her
career, although she has slowed down on local
appearances in recent times.
Ibinabo Fiberesima
She became the first woman to lead the Actors’ Guild
of Nigeria when she was sworn in as President in
November 2012. Ibinabo Fiberesima, an actress and

Africa”, Njoku has combined technology and
creativity to satisfy the ever-growing needs of
Nollywood fans across the world, ranking in the
Forbes “African millionaires to watch” list. His idea
now caters for millions of Nigerians who chose to go
online to source music and Nollywood movies.
King Sunny Ade
A perfect example of consistency, King Sunny Ade
boasts of a career that has spanned over five
decades. KSA is an important voice in the Nigerian
entertainment industry particularly in regards to
music as he uses his influence, contacts and
resources to affect major decisions in many of the
music organisations; while serving as mentor and
inspiration to many.
Kunle Afolayan
He is one of the most prolific film directors in Nigeria.
From his debut production “Irapada” to the critically
reviewed action-drama “Figurine”, the accounting
graduate has shown finesse in all his work. His recent
project, October 1, still in the making has generated
the most publicity-ever for a yet to be released flick.
Afolayan is seen by many pundits as the face of “New
Nollywood”.
KWAM 1
A prolific recording artist, KWAM1 updated the Fuji
style incorporating Western instruments to give it
that youth-oriented theme. That singular innovation
opened up the genre to a hitherto uninterested
segment. With a career now spanning over three
decades, the self-acclaimed King of Fuji music
continues to influence and appeal both the old and
young in fuji other genres.
Linda Ikeji

blog has become a hotspot for many online readers.
From a business and career that has taken her seven
years to build, Miss Ikeji’s blog has become a
phenomenal success earning her millions in annual
turnover; building a profile as Nigeria’s most
successful blogger. What that means? The
bachelorette now belongs to the elite group of
opinion moulders and news shapers.
M.I
They call him the Chairman. Jude Abaga aka M.I. has
set a standard for aspiring rappers, for being able to
appeal both to the so called hip hop heads and those
with no idea in the world what the art form is about.
He is sometimes regarded as the best rapper in
Nigeria and has a lot in fan base to show for it.

“Moments with Mo”, Mosunmola Abudu has built for
herself a strong repertoire. Often referred to as the

magazine’s 2013 edition of the “100 Most Influential

The Real Me” generated a landmark viewership on M-
NET’s Africa Magic when it debuted, and the mother-
of-four is now warming up for international break.

major force to reckon with. The sports veteran and
his team are delivering entertainment to millions of
Nigerians while giving many an opportunity to kick
off their careers.

here, according to NET findings.

terrain to establish TRACE TV as a channel of choice
for many young Nigerians.

From what began with creating content
programming for several terrestrial TV stations,
Adepetu has gone on to establish his own cable TV
channel and TV station. Both Soundcity and ONTV,
popular among young Nigerians, have now become
household names when it comes to pure
entertainment. Other assets include Spice TV which
will launch as a full channel on DSTV in a matter of
months, and social media platform Buddie.
The Murray-Bruces
The Murray-Bruces have played many major roles in
taking Nigerian entertainment to the next level.
Spearheaded by Ben Murray-Bruce, the family has
not only succeeded in radio and TV broadcasting, but
also made cinema culture fashionable again, with the
Silverbird Cinemas. Their “Most Beautiful Girl in
Nigeria” pageant has lost credibility and popularity,
but remains the nation’s leading pageant.
Tony Okoroji
Okoroji is one of the most important factors in
collective rights management and administration in
Nigeria. Working with the Copyright Society of
Nigeria (COSON), Okoroji has spearheaded the
recognition of mechanical and associated rights,

others who exploit music pay what’s due rights
owners.
The jury is still out on whether that segment should
be liberalized.

brilliance in cinematography and storytelling is
second to none. With over 20 films made under his
Mainframe Productions, Kelani has been setting
standards for as long as we can remember.

achievements will make some legends jealous. From
an unsure wannabe, the hit-maker has grown to

his style and- permit us – swagger. Now warming up
to be an entrepreneur, Wizzy has it all working.

Jay Z who was also on the magazine cover page with Lisa
Robinson in the November
issue that although his wife, Beyoncé, says that their 18-month-old
daughter, Blue Ivy, prefers
Jay’s music to hers, he’s not
so sure. “That’s not true.
She does like her mother’s
music—she watches [Beyoncé’s concerts] on the computer every night.
But my album came out and I don’t know if Blue ever heard any of my music prior to this album—she’s
only 18 months old and I don’t play my music around the house. But this album was new, so we played it.
And she loves all the songs. She plays a song and she goes, ‘More, Daddy, more . . . Daddy song.’ She’s my
biggest fan. If no one bought the Magna Carta
[album], the fact that she loves it so much, it gives
me the greatest joy. And that’s not like a cliché. I’m really serious. Just to see her—‘Daddy song, more,
Daddy.’ She’s genuine, she’s honest, because she doesn’t know it makes me happy. She just wants to
hear it.”
Jay tells Robinson that Barack Obama’s 2008 election
“actually renewed my spirit for America. It was like,
Oh, wow, man, this whole thing about land of the
free, home of the . . . it’s, like, real—it’s going to happen, everyone’s getting to participate in it. But
growing up, if you had ever told a black person from the hood you can be president, they’d be like, I could
never . . . If you had told me that as a kid, I’d be like,
Are you out of your mind? How?”
Jay also revealed that he was a drug dealer as a teenager, “but we never really had
those conversations. We just pretty much ignored it.
But she knew. All the mothers knew. It sounds like
‘How could you let your son . . . ’ but I’m telling you,
it was normal.”
Jay’s checkered past taught him a few things that he
says will come in handy in his new role as a sports
agent: “I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,”
he tells Robinson. “To be in a drug deal, you need to
know what you can spend, what you need to re-up.
Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car
wash—those were the businesses back then. Things
you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some
point, you have to have an exit strategy, because
your window is very small; you’re going to get locked
up or you’re going to die.”

the walls to make the $25. I remember the other kids making fun of me for that: ‘Who is this weird, skinny
girl in those high heel boots?’ But I didn’t care.”

having landed the coveted Sports Illustrated cover, a
Beach Bunny campaign and the oh-so-hot Real

successful model, I knew I would deal with people
wanting to know about my personal life,” she said.
“So it didn’t come as a shock. And if you love someone and you are in a great relationship, you

Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ Viewers Rating Drops to 3rd Lowest

Following a report by Radar Online, interests has whetted as people no longer seem to watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians anymore.
Radar Online reports The Kardashian empire is slowly but surely crumbling, and last Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians is proof — because it was the reality TV show’s lowest ratings of the season.
The one-time hit E! show gathered a mere 1.79 million viewers overall and only 1 million viewers between the ages of 18 and 49, which is said to be the most important demo in TV, compared to the Season 8 premiere, We’re Having A Baby, that boasted 3.02 million overall viewers.
“This is looking really bad for the Kardashians and their show,” an industry insider said.
“When Kendra Wilkinson‘s show dropped below 1 million viewers they dropped it, so the Kardashian reality show is definitely in trouble.”
Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Kris Jenner‘s show has hovered all season in the 2.5 million average viewers mark, so Sunday’s Baby Shower Blues episode proved a steep decline in interest by viewers.
Competing with hit shows like Breaking Bad and The Big Bang Theory, which boasted 10.28 million and 20.44 million viewers respectively, the Kardashian brand has taken a noticeable hit in popularity this season after being plagued with negative publicity.
Kim took months out of the public eye after having her baby daughter with beau Kanye West, while both Khloe and Kris’ marriages appear to be crumbling beneath them.
Kris’ marital woes with Bruce Jenner have played out on the show, with the former Olympian moving out into his own Malibu bachelor pad and Kris’ own sister spilling the beans that the couple have separated and Bruce has “sought out a lawyer” for a possible multi-million dollar divorce.
Meanwhile, Khloe’s husband Lamar Odom was caught in the middle of affair allegations with numerous women earlier this year, quickly followed by the news that the former LA Clipper has been struggling with drug abuse — namely the prescription drugs Oxycontin and Ambien, as well as illicit drugs like cocaine and crack.
The couple are currently living separately, and divorce is suspected as imminent with Khloe recently removing the “Odom” from her name on both Instagram and Twitter.

15 Year Old Student Rapes His Female Teacher In Classroom

A 14-year-old schoolboy has been jailed after he barricaded his teacher inside a classroom then laughed as he sexually assaulted her.
Desperate colleagues tried to break down the door when they heard the teacher screaming for help but could not stop the boy, now 15, from Wrexham.
Staff fought their way into the school’s
computer room and pulled the ‘distressed and terrified’ teacher to safety.
The teenager, who admitted sexual assault and was sentenced to four years’ youth detention, had put his hand up her skirt and forced himself on her.
Prosecutor Karl Scholz told Mold Crown
Court: ‘The teacher and the boy were in the classroom when he closed the door and snapped the latch shut.
‘He told her he had things on his mind and took hold of her and hugged her.
‘She managed to get away and wanted to leave the room but realized the door was locked.
‘The schoolboy then put his hand up the
teacher’s skirt and carried out a serious sexual assault on her.’
Mr Scholz said staff outside could hear their colleague scream and the boy laughing.
When they eventually got in the teacher was ‘very distressed’ and had a ‘terrified’ expression on her face.
Mold Crown Court was told the teacher
had been unable to return to work since the horrific school sex attack at the 700-pupil high school in North Wales.
The schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had previous convictions for two
sexual assaults and was on bail for a third when he attacked his teacher.
Steven Edwards, defending, said the boy had suffered a difficult childhood and had been the victim of abuse.
Judge Greg Bull QC told the schoolboy: ‘You attacked one of your teachers, barricaded her into the computer room and forced yourself on her.
‘It was a terrifying experience for a woman who was only there to try and help you.’
The teenager was also placed on the sex
offenders’ register for life.

MILA KUNIS CELEBRATES HER 30th BIRTHDAY

The super sexy and talented star actress turns 30 today. Mila who is from Ukraine and speaks fluent Russian named the most sexiest woman in the world is also engaged to Ashton Kutcher.
E! compiled this list:30 Reasons to Love Mila Kunis on Her 30th Birthday
falling in love with Mila Kunis.
1. She was in a Lisa Frank commercial in the early ’90s.
2. She isn’t afraid to get her PDA on with boyfriend Ashton Kutcher.
3. She speaks fluent Russian. A power she uses for good and not evil. Like defending Justin Timberlake against reporters in Moscow.
4. But she still thinks Russian sounds like
Klingon.
5. Because she’s adorable being interviewed by awkward interviewers.
6. She likes crêpes.
7. She voices Meg on Family Guy.
8. No really, she’s the voice of Meg. And she loves it.
9. She makes for one hell of a Wicked Witch. Disney
Even if the rest of the movie wasn’t so great.
10. Which is cool considering the first book she read in English was Return to Oz. And she was the understudy to Glinda the Good Witch
in her 4th grade play.
11. She lied about her age to book That 70’s Show.
Larsen & Talbert/FOX
She said she was “legally emancipated or 18.”
She wasn’t either.
12. Because a Marine asked her out via
YouTube and she said yes.
13. And then she actually went out with him. Mila was Sgt. Scott Moore’s date for the
Marine Corps Ball in Greenville, N.C.
For the record, he said she was a “blast.”
14. She inspired the stupidest meme on the Internet: Mila and Words. Which is just pictures of Mila Kunis and words.
15. Because this is what she had to say about appearing on Baywatch as a kid: “I was on Baywatch twice. The second time, I played a
blind girl who’s lost in the forest next to the beach and needs to be saved. It was absurd: There’s a fire, I get saved, and then I go boogie-boarding. I remember thinking, ‘Well, if I’m blind, how am I boogie-boarding?’ No one ever gave me an answer.”
16. She was blind in one eye for many years and no one knew.
She’s not anymore.
17. She’s friends with a literal princess.
Princess Beatrice, to be exact. And they
vacation together in St. Tropez.
18. She was adorable in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
19. She was adorable in Ted.
20. She was adorable in this video of her
eating at a Dodger’s game.
21. She was terrifying…but sexy…but
terrifying…but sexy! in Black Swan.
22. She’s pretty all made up.
Tom Munro for Allure
23. She’s pretty without makeup.
24. She’s really, really pretty when she goes to the Oscars.
25. Which is all probably because she’s the Sexiest Woman Alive.
According to Esquire, at least.
26. Even though she’s the Sexiest Woman Alive, she’s modest about it.
“I showed side boob. I don’t need to show ass,” she’s said about stripping down for movies. “You get one or the other. You don’t need both.”
27. She’s generally all around humble,
actually. Which she credits to being a child star.
FOX
“If I ever, even for a second, started getting a big head, I was brought back to reality pretty quickly. I was working full time and
still had to fight for a cellphone. Then the car thing came around. Oh my God! You would have
thought I was asking for a private jet! I
kicked and screamed and I got my stupid car.
Then I did something dumb and my parents took my keys away. I told them, ‘But I have to go to work tomorrow!’ And they said, ‘You’ll
figure it out.’ Yeah, those are my parents—and that’s why I’m pretty grounded.”
28. She’s super close to her parents still and regularly hangs out with them.
29. Because she’s Mila frickin’ Kunis.
30. And because it’s her birthday! Happy
Birthday, Mila!
We love you!

(MUSIC REVIEW)GOOD Kid Gone Mad: Kendrick Lamar Reaps The Benefits OF Being A Fearless Rapper

Kendrick Lamar, the Compton-based
rapper, has set the hip-hop world ablaze
with his latest battle rhyme.
The Compton born rapper set Twitter
ablaze Monday night after hip-hop heads
around the web caught wind of his battle
rhyme for the ages on “Control,” a seven
minute song also featuring Big Sean and
Jay Electronica. Did a west coast rapper
really call himself King of New York? Did
a rap rookie really put himself on the same
scale as Jay-Z and Nas? And did he really
call his hip-hop peers out by name and vow
to annihilate their careers?
Spitting out some of the most
braggadocious lines in recent rap history,
Lamar (crowned by MTV as the “Hottest
MC in the Game” in 2012) is now said to
have the best verse of 2013.
Many have reduced Lamar’s verse to a diss
track that has compelled countless rappers
to respond via Twitter. But others, myself
included, are intrigued by how awe-
inspiring Lamar seems to be to rap
veterans, his contemporaries and hip-hop
heads. This verse is a mere extension of
him constantly pushing the envelope and
operating outside the box.
From the second that Lamar’s verse begins,
the poetry kicks in. It’s that celestial,
“from two planets away” voice that has
become his signature sound. The vocabulary
is simple but the ideas are complex. Every
line is overpacked, forcing the listener to
take them apart piece by piece in order to
understand the metaphors. ”Miscellaneous
minds are never explaining their minds/
Devilish grin for my alias aliens to
respond/ Peddlin’ sin, thinking’ maybe when
you get old you realize/ I’m not gonna fold
or demise.”
Lamar is an unapologetic lyricist who
masterfully weaves words and images
together in the art of hip-hop story-telling.
His language is often explicit and vulgar,
loaded with N-words and the like, but he is
a griot of this generation. When Lamar
opens his mouth, he brings the reality of
the grimy, gritty streets of America into
the mainstream with him.
When he says “I’m Makaveli’s offspring,
I’m the king of New York / King of the
Coast, one hand, I juggle them both,” he’s
not simply dethroning Jay-Z or Nas. He’s
evoking rap history through the memory of
hip-hop legends Tupac Shakur and
Notorious B.I.G.
Lamar, unlike many of his rap peers,
understands that his competition is not only
his contemporaries but also the greats that
proceed him. He’s “trying to raise the bar
high” in order to call hip-hop back to its
more organic self, reminding other artists
that it was “black hoodie rap” that put
many of the legends on the map and not the
rampant materialism found on radio
stations today. Joining a chorus of people
who blamed New York rappers for Lamar’s
lyrical audacity, rapper Joe Budden asked
via Twitter, “Where’s old NY?”
The verse has already gotten over 8 replies
already from mainstream & the
underground artistes, three replies from
B.O.B, Lupe Fiasco & Joell Ortiz of
Slaughter house.
Some may say that Lamar went too far. He
definitely went to the edge of rap social
etiquette: “I heard the barbershops be in
great debates all the time / Bout who’s the
best MC – Kendrick, Jigga and Nas.” But it
goes without question that he’s taking his
craft to new lyrical heights and he is
pushing his contemporaries to do the same.
At a stage in any rappers career every
rapper is supposed to feel like Kendrick
feels at the moment.. As far as wanting to
murder niggas on the mic and being one of
the best if not the best.
Same way M.I Abaga felt when he
recorded ‘Undisputed’ & ‘Number One’, I
mean that feeling that you’re are immortal,
untouchable! Cockiness has to come in.
A 26 year old rapper from compton
claiming to be the ‘King Of New York’..
Back then a rapper dare not try such, else
he’d have his ass fried and put together
with glue.
At a time when so much of rap music is
about profit generating, Lamar is that
“breath of fresh air” that Lupe Fiasco was
once described as. There’s no artistic risk
he seems unwilling to take. He’s not married
to conformity. He’s not invested in rap
solely for commercial success. If one word
explains why he stands out from the pack,
it’s “fearless.” Kendrick Lamar is reaping
the benefits of courage.
No doubt this would go down as one of the
most controversial Rap/Hip-Hop verses
